Operated by BYO as an independent digital publisher. We oversee system architecture, production deployment, official API integrations, database integrity, and final editorial standards. We do not accept sponsored rankings, affiliate travel steering, or commercial bias in any threat score.
Automated Data Pipelines
Continuous scheduled ingestion monitors authoritative government feeds: the US Department of State, UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), Government of Canada, Australian Smartraveller, the CDC, the World Health Organization, GDACS disaster alerts, USGS earthquake catalogues, and Open-Meteo climate normals. Feeds are updated on strict cadences (30 minutes to 24 hours). If an upstream government source is temporarily unreachable, it is flagged as unavailable rather than assumed safe.
Source Admission Gate
Before any external open-source intelligence or search snippet can be ingested into our synthesis models or cited in dossiers, it must clear our automated SourceGate admission filter. This gate enforces three non-negotiable standards: (1) immediate rejection of adult, gambling, and link-spam domains across multiple languages; (2) strict geographic validation requiring verified mention of the target city or administrative region; and (3) temporal recency within 30 days for current intelligence.
AI Assistance
We use artificial intelligence exclusively for synthesizing structured dossiers and contextualizing verified source packs into readable briefings. Our AI models never calculate or alter numerical risk scores, never override official government advisory floors, and are strictly forbidden from presenting ungrounded claims. Every published AI observation cites its underlying source snippet.
Corrections & Auditability
We maintain an immutable public corrections workflow. When errors in city coordinates, facility data, or local contextual notes are identified by travelers or researchers, submissions are reviewed against official records and resolved with an entry in our public corrections ledger.
